Next Thursday, November 26th at 7pm, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul will be at Teatro Lethes.
The wind formations were quite in vogue during the 18th century as a way to allow listening in a camaristic context adaptations of symphonic works of the most celebrated composers of the time. Not only are there transcriptions of Beethoven's symphonies for this formation, but he himself wrote original works, the most finished example being his Octet Op. 103. The taste for the sound of the wind ensemble extended to the 20th century where several composers dedicated masterpieces to it, such as Paul Hindemith's Septet.
