Faro City Hall, committed to promoting a fairer, more dignified, inclusive and sustainable world, joins the launching of the anthem "All for One".
With lyrics and music by Pedro Abrunhosa, "All for one" is an urgent appeal to the need to unite in favor of achieving the goals set for each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations by 2030.
"A challenge issued to the Portuguese composer and singer, Pedro Abrunhosa, by the Towards 2030 campaign, which is committed to contributing with concrete actions for the success of Agenda 2030," says the Faro town hall in a statement.
This campaign is implemented in Portugal by the Instituto Marquês de Valle Flôr (IMVF) and by the members of the Rede Intermunicipal de Cooperação para o Desenvolvimento (RICD), of which the municipality of Faro is a founding member, and is funded by Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P.
Launched on the World Day of Social Justice, the song "All for one" aims to encourage "action and mobilization for a more just, dignified, inclusive and sustainable world, betting on the power of social transformation that music has. It is also a way to contribute to "the knowledge of citizens about the importance of local action to achieve the SDGs, motivating them to act for Global Development.
"Já não temos muito tempo (We don't have much time left)"
Until 2030 there is still a long way to go. According to the Progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals Report, in relation to SDG 1 - Eradicate Hunger, even before the pandemic of COVID-19, the pace of global poverty reduction was slowing and it was projected that the global goal of ending poverty by 2030 would not be met.
"The pandemic is pushing tens of millions of people back into extreme poverty, undoing years of progress. While the pandemic has highlighted the need to strengthen social protection and emergency preparedness and response, these measures are insufficient to safeguard the poor and vulnerable, who need them most," say the initiative's promoters."
"Todos por Um (All for One)"
Only with the joint involvement and commitment of governments, civil society, business and other development actors worldwide will it be possible to achieve economically, environmentally and socially sustainable development, benefiting all in a universal and equitable way.
The 2030 Agenda will only be fulfilled if together we commit to achieve its Goals, leaving no one behind, because everyone counts in the promotion of Global Development.
Meet the song "All for One" and be an active part of the change towards a more just, dignified, inclusive and sustainable world."
"The 2030 Agenda, a global action plan to change the world by 2030"
The United Nations' Agenda 2030 is the result of governments and citizens from around the world working together to create a global model to end poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, protect the environment, and combat climate change.
This ambitious Agenda comprises 17 Goals underpinned by 169 targets that are the steps identified to ensure a more just, dignified, inclusive and sustainable world.
From poverty and hunger eradication to gender equality and quality health, from clean water and sanitation to decent work and economic growth, from inequality reduction to quality education, from renewable energy to climate action, this Agenda reflects the balance between 5 Principles: People, Planet, Peace, Partnerships and Prosperity that stand as pillars of this glocal strategy."
