It was last Sunday, October 25th, at the Cine Teatro de São Brás de Alportel, that the book "Letras da Minha Alma" by Eleutéria Pires was presented.
Eleutéria Pires, is one of the popular poets who has stood out in recent years in the Algarve region. With regular participation in several publications and contests, she has been distinguished several times in the category of Popular Poetry. "Letras da Minha Alma" is her first volume edited by Epopeia Books and compiles part of her estate. In a simple and organic writing, the author addresses themes such as family, nostalgia and childhood memories.
The presentation of the book was attended by friends and family, who made a point of being present at the first moment of sharing the author's first volume. Luís Caracinha from Epopeia Books™ and João Manuel Fialho Rosa, preface of the book, accompanied Eleutéria Pires in the session.
"When Eleutéria invited me to write this preface, I who like to feel challenged, I noticed again that Eleutéria is also a person who likes to challenge herself because her life history has also given her this right".
Luís Caracinha publisher from Epopeia Books™ opened the session and spoke a little about the way he met Eleutéria Pires and how the process unfolded highlighting that "...this book, like most of the editions the publisher has been doing, happened in a very natural way and with a very collaborative spirit. It is a collective work that, besides compiling part of Eleuteria's estate, also reflects its character and the work of a series of professionals who had the opportunity to know and represent not only the work but the person behind the words".
João Manuel Fialho Rosa, a friend of the author and also President of the São Brás de Aportel Parish Council, pointed out that if it weren't for the pandemic situation, "...this room would have many more people than it has now. It's always difficult to make choices considering that Eleuteria is a humble, nice and well-known person here in São Brás de Alportel". It should be noted that, according to the indications of the Regional Health Direction, this event was designed for a maximum of 50 people.
Thanking the opportunity to be part of another important stage of a friend he has known for more than 25 years, João Rosa mentioned that "When Eleutéria invited me to write this preface, I who like to feel challenged, I noticed again that Eleutéria is also a person who likes to challenge herself because her life history has also given her this right through the stages she has been through. Challenging herself in a simple and honest way demonstrates that she is altruistic, that she is decisive and that she believes, essentially, in her dreams. And the dream, the poet said, is as big as man wants, in this case it's as big as Eleuteria wants and wanted, believed, gathered his friends and here it is! It's with great emotion that here I am Eleutheria contributing to this moment".
The author recited one of the poems with which she identifies most, and is present in this book "Criança" (Child) and thanked all those who were part of this journey. "I thank my friend João Rosa for accepting the challenge of writing the preface of my book, no one would be able to describe me in such a magnificent way, I thank the musicians Paulo Sousa and Andreia Pires who promptly offered to play and delight you with their music played on guitar and violin, I thank my friend Luís Caracinha and the entire team of Epopeia Books™ for helping me to make this dream come true, and a special thank you to all the friends here present. This book was a dream come true".
