The German channel SWR made the Algarve known to its audience and ventured into a project that took a year to be completed and resulted in a documentary that explains the essence of the Algarve and its traditions and cultures, whose main theme was the railroad that shortens distances and connects the Algarve from one end to the other.
The images and testimonies of local residents bring viewers closer to the reality as lived by Algarvians and, along the track that began in Vila Real de Santo António, the most deep-rooted traditions of each place are shown and described in detail. Salt production, fishing, cork processing and traditional gastronomy are the subjects highlighted and a sample of what can be found on the other side of the railroad. The program has been enriched with breathtaking panoramas thanks to the work of Pedro Queiroga, a professional photographer from the Algarve who operated the drone and is the author of all the aerial images presented throughout the documentary.
